The "Porto International Conference on Research in Education" – Porto ICRE’17 invites you to submit abstracts from November 15th 2016 to January 30th 2017. You may choose between individual oral presentation, symposium and poster presentation. Proposals should be included in one of the following themes: (a) Society challenges and social education, (b) Research on educational contexts and processes, (c) Lifelong learning, teaching education and professional development, and (d) Culture, heritage and education.
Proposals must be submitted electronically in English, Portuguese or Spanish. For each accepted submission with less than five authors (individual oral presentation, presentation in a symposium or poster), at least one author must register for the conference to be included in the conference program, and each participant is limited to three submissions, either as first or as co-author. If an accepted submission has five or more authors, at least two authors must register. Posters and symposium proposals will not be limited and will not account to the individual oral presentation limit. In addition, a registered author can assume the role of chair. Please, review the provided submission guidelines for all type of submissions before submitting an abstract.
Maximum number of words: 500; up to 5 key-words
Individual oral presentation
Individual oral presentations can include empirical research with results and its discussion, meta-analysis or systematic reviews. Oral presentations will be organized in 90-minute thematic sessions, which will include four 15-minute presentations on similar themes and discussion in the end of the four presentations. Abstracts for oral presentations must be submitted following the instructions provided.
Individual papers can be presented in situ (i.e., onsite, if the presenting author is physically present in the Conference) or virtually (i.e., if the presenting author is not physically present in the Conference). For virtual presentations, authors are asked to send the multimedia file with the oral presentation until July 14th 2017 (instructions will be provided after review results announcement).
Virtual presentations will be scheduled in Thematic Sessions, according to the topic, as in situ presentations. Registration is mandatory in both cases as referred above. Accepted abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book. Authors are invited to submit their papers for peer review and possible publication in a special issue of the inED journal Sensos (http://sensos.ese.ipp.pt/revista/index.php/sensos).
Symposium give researchers the opportunity to present research on one topic, integrating a coherent group of papers for discussion and multiple perspectives. Symposia consist of 90 minutes’ conference sessions organized by the submitters. Each symposium, organized by a chair person, includes three to four papers. In order to promote a broader discussion, each symposium must include researchers from at least two countries.
Symposium Proposals must be sent by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
Posters are graphical presentations that will be displayed during the two mornings of the conference and will be discussed in thematic Poster Sessions at the end of each morning. Posters should be prepared in the appropriate format, following the guidelines provided in the website. Authors will be asked to prepare a 5 minutes’ oral presentation and to be available to answer questions during the Poster Session.
Poster: Standard dimension - 90x120 - vertical orientation
If you chose to do your presentation virtually (i.e., not in person), please note that you must send the video file with the oral presentation between June 1st and July 14, 2017. This presentation should have a maximum duration of 15 minutes. You should record the presentation in WMV format (.wmv), preferably, or MP4 (.mp4), and submit it on your personal area of the website, by selecting the tab Abstracts. These presentations should respect the same rules as in situ oral presentations.
We also inform you that the virtual presentation is only available for approved abstracts on the category of "Oral communication". The abstracts included in the category "Posters" don't have the opportunity of presenting virtually. However, authors can send them by mail and they will be exposed at the conference.
